Bost Family Traditions Newletter-February 2008

Well, here we are at the beginning of a new year. We trust that all of you had a Merry Christmas and memorable and fun times with family and friends. We have bid farewell to a prosperous 2007 and are eagerly anticipating the unfolding of the coming year. 2008, so far, has been filled with incredible joy and sweet memories. We have welcomed a new member to our family and have also released a new album!!!

Many of you have been asking if "that baby has been born yet." Many of you are full of enquiries concerning the details of the birth. So, I thought I would elaborate on it a bit. It was Friday, January fourth. Mama wasn't feeling like the baby was anywhere near coming. After all, she wasn't due to deliver until the 11th. However, we finally persuaded her to stay at home that night while the rest of us went to a gig at an RV resort in Yuma. Our good friend, Ron Chavez , would cover the bass for us. Mama didn't like the idea of staying home, insisting the whole time that she was perfectly able to play the bass. However, she was finally convinced and agreed (half heartedly) to staying behind. So, with great sadness, we left her at home with William and Charity to take good care of her. The gig went well...it was basically uneventful. Afterwards, we began the long trek back; from Yuma to Bisbee. It wasn't until 2:00am that we got the call. The fateful call that would change the course of our weekend, and...if you really think about it (literally), our lives. We were in Willcox when Mama called and said her water broke. You should have seen Papa....driving like I've never seen him!! We arrived home at 3ish and thankfully, our friend Margaret Dillard was there when we arrived. It was so kind of her to stay and help Mama. Well, to make a long story shorter...Mama labored for what seemed an eternity. Now, fast forward 12 hours. It is 3pm on Saturday, January 5th. Although she seemed to be progressing fairly well, it was at this point that we noticed that all progress had ceased. The midwife finally confirmed that the baby was too large and Mama packed her bag and Papa drove her (quite furiously I might add) to the Sierra Vista Regional Health Center. The baby was indeed too large and Mama was given a C section. Although this wasn't what she planned (or wanted), we were all extremely grateful for a healthy baby. It was a boy!!! 10 lbs. 11 oz. Absolutely gorgeous. You can see pictures of him on our blog at www.bostfamilyblog.blogspot.com His name is Jonathan Justice Bost and he's an absolute gift from God. He had some meconium in his lungs and had to stay under observation and the nursery for a few days after birth. He's home now though and doing spledidly. Mama is still healing, but I am pleased to report that she is doing great as well.

On Saturday, the family will be headed out on tour again. We're very happy about this...we've been getting itchy staying parked in the same place for over a month! ;) The first period of our tour will be spent in the Yuma/Quartzsite area. We can't wait to see all of you at the Quartzsite Bluegrass Festival (which has a great line up this year). We are also looking forward to Havasu Landing Bluegrass Fest. It was amazing last year and we're thrilled to be involved again.

Thank you all for your loving prayers and support. We love all of you and it's folks like you that really make what we do worthwhile. We were so blessed by all of you who were there for us during the transitory time of Jon's birth. Thanks again!
